zestyctl verification - Verify AWS account and Linux instance permissions

This topic describes the zestyctl verification CLI command.

Before using Zesty Disk on your account or instance type/image, use the zestyctl verification command to check that the AWS instance’s account and instance has the necessary permissions to run Zesty Disk features.

Run the verification command before using these features:

Create a new Zesty Disk filesystem.
Configure a filesystem with Auto Extend.
Run EZswitch for an existing filesystem.

You can run the command once to verify all of the features, or you can run it multiple times and specify which feature to verify on each run.

During verification, a volume is created and deleted in the instances AWS account. If tagging is enforced on new volumes, use the --device_name flag to specify an existing instance device. The verification will identify the related EBS volume and its tags and will use those for the volume created for the verification test.

Syntax

zestyctl disk verification start [--feature=<feature>] [--device_name=<device>]

The verification process may take a few minutes. When you want to see results, run the following command:

zestyctl disk verification status

Example

The following example will start verification for EZswitch, using tagging from a current device:

zestyctl disk verification start [--feature=ezswitch] [--device_name=/dev/xvdb]

Parameters

`--feature`	Verifies permissions required for a specific Zesty Disk feature. Type the string for the feature to verify. - zestydisk - ezswitch - autoextend If you do not include this flag, the verification command will verify permissions for all features at one time.	N

Output

After running the zestyctl disk verification status command, output similar to the following is displayed:

If errors are shown, they are usually configuration errors, not issues in Zesty Disk.

If errors are shown when verifying for all features, you can run the verification command on a feature-by-feature basis to isolate the issue.

Prerequisites

Zesty Disk Agent is installed

The zestyctl CLI is enabled as part of the Agent installation.
